Lobster Rolls

Lobster Rolls at Grace Church

Every Friday afternoon from the first of May through the end of September, Grace Church offers Lobster Rolls to the community as its primary fundraiser for local outreach ministries.  The program, unofficially chaired by Lorraine Clark and Beebe Greene, last year broke all previous sales records:  The final tally was 12,004!

Voted “Number One” by residents of the island in 2006, Grace Church will be featured in the July 2007 issue of The Best of the Vineyard published by the Martha’s Vineyard Times.  Workers will be honored at a special celebration on June 27th.

The winning recipe is no secret.  No fillers are used in making the rolls, just a little mayonnaise and white pepper for seasoning; the results are placed in a freshly baked roll or a container for carry out between the hours of 4:30 and 7:30 PM every Friday evening.  Served with a bag of chips and beverage, diners may either sit comfortably with their neighbors at tables in the Parish Hall or outdoors at picnic tables on the grounds.  Many prefer to take them home to serve for weekend guests or just have them later in the evening.  Diners may also elect to add a piece of pie for dessert.  Hot dogs are also available for those with allergies to shellfish and children.

Cost?  $13.00 for the lobster roll, $3.00 for Hot Dogs, $3.00 for pie.  Chips and drink are included in the cost of both the lobster rolls and the hot dogs.  Diners with large orders may phone ahead to the “Grace Church Lobster Roll Hotline” at 508-693-0332 to have your order packed and ready to go when you arrive.
