Grace Preschool provides the Martha’s Vineyard Community with a quality childhood program that has served over 700 children since its founding. Established in 1956 as the Grace Church Co-operative Playgroup, it is the oldest existing preschool on Martha’s Vineyard.
The enrichment program at Grace Preschool has been able to offer to the children Creative Dramatics with Phyllis Vecchia, Tennis Lessons at the Youth Tennis Center, Drumming with Rick Bausman and Ice Skating at the MV Ice Arena. Students enjoy journeying out into the community as well as inviting people in to visit.
Three annual fundraisers sponsored by the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) help to underwrite the cost of the school: the Turkey Run held in November of each year, the newly organized Annual Fund Drive, and a Spaghetti Dinner with Silent Auction.
Grace Preschool is licensed by the state of Massachusetts and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The Grace Preschool staff under the leadership of Debbie Jernegan, director, is committed to achieving and continuing the high marks of program excellence required by the NAEYC.
